Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 4, 2026

This policy explains what data the Alcove app uses and where it goes. Alcove is made by Nick Breetz ("we", "us"). Alcove is a wall calendar app for iOS and Android.

The short version

Calendar accounts

You can connect Google and iCloud calendars. Alcove reads your events and shows them on the screen. You can also add, change, and delete events from the app. The app sends these changes to your calendar service.

Google

When you add a Google account, Google asks you to allow these permissions:

Alcove stores the sign-in token in the secure storage of your device (the iOS Keychain or the Android Keystore). The app talks to Google directly. Your data does not go through our servers.

Alcove's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google data only to show and edit your calendar in the app. We do not transfer it to others, use it for ads, or let people read it.

To disconnect a Google account, remove it in the Alcove settings. The app deletes the token from your device and asks Google to revoke it. You can also remove Alcove in your Google Account permissions.

iCloud

iCloud needs your Apple ID email and an app-specific password. Alcove stores them in the secure storage of your device. The app sends them only to Apple (caldav.icloud.com) to read and change your events. To stop access, remove the account in Alcove, and revoke the app-specific password at account.apple.com.

Data on your device

Alcove saves a copy of your events, your task list, your settings, and the last known location of your device in the storage of the app. This data does not leave your device, except as described in this policy. If you remove the app, this data is deleted.

Weather and location

The weather comes from Open-Meteo. For each forecast, the app sends the latitude and longitude of the location you choose. Open-Meteo also receives the usual network details, such as your IP address. When you search for a city, the app sends the text you type.

You choose the location. You can use the location of your device, or you can select a city. The app asks for permission to use the location of your device only if you choose that option. You can turn it off at any time in the Alcove settings or in the settings of your device.

Usage data and crash reports (optional)

The first time you open the app, Alcove asks if it may send anonymous usage data and crash reports. Nothing is sent until you choose "Share". You can change your choice at any time in the Alcove settings, under Privacy.

If you agree, the app uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. Google is the processor of this data. The app sends:

The app never sends the titles of your events, the names of your calendars, your email address, or other details of your accounts. We use this data only to fix problems and to see which parts of the app people use. Firebase stores it under its own privacy terms.

Sharing

We share data only with the services named in this policy, and only as described: Google (calendar, and Firebase if you agree), Apple (iCloud calendar), and Open-Meteo (weather). We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising.

Your choices

Children

Alcove is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from them.
